FairPoint ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode)

ATM Service transports customer data at the highest speed available, at the lowest delay permitted for each type of information. With ATM, you can consolidate voice, data and video globally on a single channel, while reaching transfer speeds greater than that of frame relay.

Benefits:

  • Transmission prioritization
  • Cost-effectiveness
  • Flexibility and scalability to connect many locations with ease, offering global reach no matter where or how you are doing business

ATM

ATM cell relay custom network is a high-speed communications transport and switching service that connects locations within a Local Access and Transport Area (LATA). ATM is a fast packet, cell-based technology that can support user applications requiring high bandwidth and switching, using permanent or switched virtual circuits over high-speed access facilities. Available in DS-1 through OC-12.

ATM UNI Port with Access

The UNI Port with Access Line Connection is a dedicated digital line that provides a link from your location to an ATM Cell Relay Service (CRS) hub. There are two types of UNIs: full and incremental. The full UNI includes all available bandwidth in one rate and the incremental UNI is sold and provisioned with PVC and/or SVC bandwidth increments. Available in DS-1 through OC-12.

ATM NNI Port Only

NNI Port Only provides a network connection based on the port connection speeds of 384 Kbps, 1.536 Mbps and 44.736 Mbps.

ATM UNI Port Only

ATM UNI Port Only establishes a cell relay only port connection to the network based on DS-1, OC-3 and 12 speeds. UNI Port Only Connections are available as either incremental or full, with DS-1 being full only.

ATM UNI IMA Port

UNI IMA Port permits the provisioning of bandwidth greater than DS-1 but less than DS-3 by binding together multiple DS-1 facilities.

ATM Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC)

PVC provides connectivity to the ATM ports, switches and facilities, functioning as an electronic equivalent of a private line between two ports. It may be provided on a point-to-point or point-to-multipoint basis.

ATM Switched Virtual Connection

SVCs are similar in structure to PVCs, but are provisioned on demand by your equipment which signals the ATM cell relay network to set up and tear down logical connections.

VCC (Virtual Channel Connection)

A VCC is a PVC with independent identity and defined service parameters provisioned via service order, which you cannot alter without additional service order activity.

VPC (Virtual Path Connection)

A VPC is a type of PVC with defined service parameters that is provisioned via service order. You may provision your own virtual channels within the PVC, provided that the sum of the service parameters of all of the virtual channels does not exceed the aggregate service parameters of the VPC.
