SCAM: Email Phishing Alert!
Scammers have been presenting themselves as FairPoint representatives and contacting customers by email to ask for their email account passwords. Providing sensitive information to a phishing scam could lead to denial of access to email to substantial financial loss and other problems.
FairPoint Communications does not make it a practice to contact customers asking for their login name and/or password.
If you receive an email request for this information, please forward it to us at cutover_questions@fairpoint.com. We are investigating the situation and urge you not to respond to email communications that allege they are from the company.
Computer users worldwide now regularly receive email hoaxes, all of which take the same general form: the messages appear to come from a well known source (i.e., FairPoint Communications). These messages can be very convincing. They may vary each time, although many of them refer to "webmail." However they always end up asking for your login and/or password.
Thank you,
FairPoint Communications
